What do our EYFS Fitness PE plans cover?
In EYFS Fitness, children should improve speed, agility, balance, strength and coordination. Children should develop jumping/hopping and landing techniques, understanding the importance of moving, landing and stopping safely.
Our EYFS Fitness lessons help children negotiate space, explore movements and try new activities.
Why are Fitness lessons important for early years children?
Fitness lessons play a healthy role in early years and foundation PE. They give opportunities for children to demonstrate strength, balance and coordination and move energetically, running, jumping, and hopping and understand the importance for good health and physical exercise – all key aspects of the DfE guidance and early learning goals.
Primary School Fitness is also great for building resilience, applying skills learnt, and working well with others.
